Amber was lucky enough to be born and raised in her beloved Michigan home. She is the daughter of Patty Disbrow, a teacher, and Jim Pedersen, a UAW autoworker, with a sister, Grace, who is 5 years younger. All through her formative years, her family instilled the values of kindness, empathy, honest work, everyone having what they need, and listening to each other.
At 21, as a single mother of 2 toddlers, Amber put herself through Siena Heights University, earning the President’s Scholarship and recognition in both Child Development-Montessori Education and Spanish. She started teaching in 2004 and began to pursue post-graduate work at Eastern Michigan University in 2008, while teaching in Detroit Public Schools. After meeting her husband, Patrick, Amber returned to Siena Heights, this time earning a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Amber has taught elementary Spanish in Adrian Public Schools for the past 5 years and now lives in Seneca Township.
Amber is very proud of her children. Her daughters, Randy and Julie Morgan, both Adrian High School graduates, now live in Ypsilanti. Randy graduated from Lansing Community College in Spring 2018 and is a licensed, practicing EMT. Julie is working on her goal of becoming a Journeyman Electrician through Washtenaw JATC. Miles, her son, is going into 7th grade and plays French horn. Together, they all enjoy Amber and Patrick’s Seneca Twp. hobby farm, with their swimming hole, 2 dogs, 3 goats, 5 hens, 8 fruit trees, and as many vegetables and flowers as fit.
